Data shared by the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 40 million people live with bipolar disorder worldwide.

Bipolar disorder, formerly referred to as manic-depressive illness, is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).

During depressive episodes, individuals may experience symptoms such as persistent sadness, low energy, and difficulty concentrating. While these episodes resemble those seen in major depressive disorder, what distinguishes bipolar disorder is the occurrence of manic or hypomanic episodes.
