The American Psychological Association says “ongoing stress can accumulate, causing inflammation, wearing on the immune system, and increasing the risk of a host of ailments, including digestive issues, heart disease, weight gain, and stroke.”

Among adults aged 35 to 44, the demonstrated rate of chronic conditions has jumped from 48% in 2019 to 58% in 2023. To be clear, this means well greater than half of Americans are living with at least one of these types of conditions.
